Mid Century Enameled Copper Galaxy Commission Art Plate 1960's Space Age Rocket‎

Mid Century Modern "galaxy" enamel on copper collectable plate by California designer Lily Alexander for General Dynamics Convair division, circa early 1960s. The plate is inscribed on the reverse with "The Heavens Are Not Too High". This piece was a special commission art plate created to promote Convair’s race to outer space and its development of the Atlas Rocket. This plate is in good condition with minor surface scratches on the enamel from age and handling. Plate measures 7 7/8" in diameter.
