It has a cloth insert that snaps to the leather as you can see from the pictures that is separated by a zipper compartment in the middle. It has the ability to have a long strap, but I bought it at a consignment shop and it did not come with a strap. I always used it as a bag I carried by hand, so never needed it. The leather is gorgeous, but there are some scuffs as you can see from the pictures. I tried to take pictures of any blemishes that I thought were called out outside of scratch.
