Megalodon (Otodus megalodon), meaning "giant tooth", was the largest shark to ever exist, living from 23 to 3.6 million years ago. With estimates suggesting it could grow up to 67 ft long and weigh up to 103 metric tons, it was also one of the largest predators in Earth's history. Its teeth were almost three times larger than a modern great white shark, with some exceeding 7.1 in long. Scientists believe it had a bite force of between 108,514 and 182,201N.
