We have 2 other 'males' in the house, 1 cat who gripes like a girl, and 1 lab pup that the hubs rescued from inside a car, literally. He is the whiniest (but sweetest) baby (thinks he's teacup size AND a lap dog) ever! I think it's hilarious because my hubs couldn't win for losing! He takes it all in stride but, when there is any kind of female, hormone induced meltdown, the puzzled look on his face is priceless! 😳Super cute closet! My family has always been in education, teachers, principals, well except me, and I have seen so many children lose their way from a difficult or tragic home life. lucky2me2 @terlab Aww, thank you so much. To that was 'kind' would be an understatement. I really do not feel like we did anything special at all. She was 'family' long before she came to live with us but honestly, I would take anyone in (and have). It doesn't make me heroic or anything but, I am grateful for my compassion. Lord knows I can be pretty mean and selfish all on my own and there has to be some give somewhere, right? We took her to Galveston last year and going to Colorado next week. Taking her to do things (even though she's almost 16 now) that she's never done before and watching the happiness and excitement, is more reward than we could ever ask for.

terlab @lucky2me2 that is so awesome and watching them in those occasions is rewarding indeed. My brother is a high school principal and knowing the stuff he does quietly behind the scenes that nobody knows about would bring tears to your eyes. Like parents giving permission for trips but having no money to send and my brother slipping money for them to eat. One of his seniors was taken out of her home and one of the teachers managed to adopt her even though she was about to turn 18. The other teachers bought her clothes, helped her fill out the grant money for college, bought everything new for her new room. And my brother got her a cell phone on his plan and told her that as long as she kept her grades up it was hers. Sure it came with conditions but positive, reinforcing ones. Sometimes I wish I could start a Non-Profit just to help kids in the smallest ways too, with money for school trips and uniforms. So yes, what your family does is beautiful to me.

We had to get Shelbie a new wardrobe when she moved here and we bought her brother new school clothes as well so he wouldn't feel left out. We offered to let him stay here as well but being a year older he opted not to. I just want to ''Be the blessing' as I know that all too often, I fall short and am not. I actually think I probably 'suck' most of the time and do not do enough. I know as long as I'm here though, God has me as a 'work in progress'....lol May God bless you, your family, and give that precious girl the chance to change the world.
