@lorik36 not that I’m aware of…. My FIL’s father died young and not much is known about his earlier family. What I do know is that his name was Auguston Jewell and he grew up in West Virginia. Any of your relatives hail from WV?

No but the Jewell’s were all over the East Coast from SC to NY and CT. I’m doing all 4 of my grandparents and it is massive. It’s a lovely name! What’s your husband’s 1st name, if you don’t mind? I did my DNA and have (distant) cousins everywhere!

I obviously haven’t been on Posh for a while.
My husbands is John Jewell and we did 23&me tests.
My FIL is Gary Jewell and he did Ancestry.com DNA tests so between them there is Jewell DNA in both databases.
My FIL was born in WV, and his father Auguston Melvin Jewell was born there too, but when my FIL was about 3 they moved to Baltimore, MD. We all still live in that area.

We hit a wall trying to find anything about my FIL’s family. Can’t even find a birth certificate. We know he was born in 1905 and he died when my husband was only about 5 years old.
