VINTAGE MCCOY USA POTTERY FROM THE 1950'S THIS ONE DEPICTS A CUTE SCOTTIE DOG WHO IS TIED TO A ROCK WALL BESIDE A SPINNING WHEEL. HE IS LOOKING UP AT A CAT WHO IS PERCHED ON THE ROCK WALL AS WELL. MEASUREMENTS ARE SHOWN ABOVE FOR THIS PIECE THAT I CAN FIND NO CHIPS OR NICKS OTHER THAN FROM THE FACTORY MOLD. MCCOY IS ANOTHER FORM OF POTTERY FROM THE OHIO/KENTUCKY AREA, SUCH AS (Bybee, M A Hadley, Roseville, Rookwood, Zanesville…) The region had an abundance ofance of naturall resources important to the manufactureture of pottery- Clay and silica, easy accessss to water and rail transit as well as experienced designers, mold makers hired by entrepreneurs- such as Nelson McCoy of Nelson McCoy Sanitary and Stoneware Co. Roseville, OHwho transformed local pottery into a nationally recognized company.
