His father worked in glass blowing and Mats was fascinated with the process. At the young age of 15, Mats with his talents for drawing took a position as an apprentice engraver. Maleras glassworks was founded in Sweden in 1924. In 1981, after several mergers and acquisitions, Maleras employees purchased and operated the company.
