This totally handcrafted Mata Ortiz vase - olla - jar by Lupita Quezada showcases intricate hand-painted designs inspired by nature which is what Lupita enjoys crating. Crafted in the village of Mata Ortiz in Northern Mexico, it reflects the rich cultural heritage and skilled artistry of the renowned Mata Ortiz pottery tradition. There are three different sections showing black birds - crows carved on the sides of piece giving a different view from every direction.
Lupita is a potter living and working in the village of Mata Ortiz in northern Mexico. She's the daughter of Reynaldo Quezada and she learned how to make pottery from one of the masters. She has lots of family members who are also potters in the area, including her husband, Hector Quintana.
