Artist: Tomas Quintana - Second Generation

Hand Painted
This striking Mata Ortiz pottery piece by Tomas Quintana showcases an intricately totally handcrafted iguana effigy, capturing the spirit of Mexican folk art in detailed clay form. A fine example of traditional craftsmanship, this lizard sculpture blends cultural symbolism with the natural elegance of the Sonoran Desert's wildlife.
Tomas Quintana is a member of the large Quintana family; many are potters in the village - pueblo of Mata Ortiz In Northern Mexico. Tomas lives in a neighboring village and for many years has been an admirer of the work of the potters. On his own he developed as the special king of effigies, inspired by Mata Ortiz creations.
Tomas has a very unique rough primitive style of barely sanded very well-formed figures such as this iguana.
