This Amilcare Santini figurine of a mama and baby elephant with their trunks raised was made in Italy likely in the 1970s using a process involving a composition of alabaster, Carrara marble dust, and resin, molded to create the highly detailed sculpture. This bonding process, which Santini was instrumental in developing, was used in his sculptures until his death in 1975.
This sculpture is fair condition due to a small chip on the baby elephant’s ear (see pictures 8 and 9. Depending how you position it, you cannot see the chip from every viewpoint.

Elephant figurines are often regarded as symbols of good fortune and are believed to attract prosperity and success. The placement of the figurine can also hold significance, with some believing that an elephant facing away from the entrance brings luck, while one facing inward protects the home.
