The bail is silver toned and striped. Such a pretty piece in wonderful shape. The stone is a type of volcanic glass with reddish-brown and black patterns. Mahogany obsidian's chemical properties are primarily determined by its silica (\(SiO_{2}\)) content, with additional oxides of aluminum, iron, potassium, sodium, and calcium. It is a volcanic glass, not a true mineral, with a composition that includes iron-rich inclusions like hematite or magnetite, which give it its distinctive red-brown color.
