This is a portable aramid fiber smoke curtain made by Naval Sea Systems Command of the US Navy made from PBI-Kevlar and Nomex. It was invented by the Navy to contain smoke in ships but is now used in many applications including buildings, homes, welding curtain, and more. This curtain is made using PBI-Kevlar, Nomex, and Kynol and they are each 340 gram per square meter, chosen for their lightweight. Please see the document below for its creation and specifics.
It is 8 feet long and 4 feet wide divided into two strips which is sewn together at the top and then has a slit that allows you to move through. It connects via heavy strength hook and loop strips. It is hung with spring clamps. Please see photos or link below for instructions.
It has a National Stock Number of 4210-01-36-7826 and Part number 5959318 PC 1. The full price of these when purchased from Naval Sea Systems Command is $1,250.
I have remnants of fabric pieces from this item. If you are interested in smaller or larger pieces, please contact me.
