zev4u_lexx_luvr @schoomkie Yes! He was only 3 feet long & fit in a long fish aquarium (barely) when I first adopted him. He hated being in it...so I gave him a shelf instead...then his own room!

zev4u_lexx_luvr @jeschopfer The 2nd pic makes him look bigger than he is cause the camera was closer to him, but he IS pretty big! He has his own room but he used to sleep in my bedroom & he was loose. He would sleep in funny places like my candle chandelier.

Do you ever take him outside? Like on a leash. It might be a bit hair raising for people afraid of lizards.

mounteden Oh my God I just noticed this picture I love that iguana I had one for at least 10 years maybe more and he was about 8 foot or 9 foot long I ended building him a cage for him and it was really nice if I find the photos I will show you I'll post them up so you can see but wow beautiful

They show ever hair & fuzzy they pick up! I have washed mine 3 X in a lingerie bag (even tho they have leather) & I used a lint eater which helped.

zev4u_lexx_luvr @anamary76 Really? Yes, I read they can be very aggressive at mating time. They get more orange then at that time of year also. Mantrid gets a rusty color on his forearms! My iguana has even pretty mellow. He likes to be left alone like a cat.

Because he was getting too aggressive see I but him from a pet shop and he seem to had been abused. Plus he was a teenager when bought lol. So his tale was mangled then grew so he started whipping people. When i was walking him in the streets.

zev4u_lexx_luvr @bbrenda88 I was told he was aprox. 2-3 years old when I bought/saved him. He was advertised in a news letter from a co. I worked for. Think it said $60 or best offer...comes with large aquarium. I researched all what I would need to keep him healthy (real quick) & gave $80 for him. They delivered Mantrid to my work office. He is a very calm pet for the most part. Vet said he was the healthiest iguana he saw! Many get metabolic bone disease.

bbrenda88 I'm so happy to know he's got such a great mommy and home he's living in! Mine absolutely loved grape leaves. I would go pull them off the vine in the backyard and rinse them before feeding. Try some if you get a chance, I bet he'll really like them too.

zev4u_lexx_luvr @bbrenda88 Thank you! Yes, I have fed him wild grape vine leaves! I tried to get the smallest, tenderest ones. Mantrid would eat them but I don't think he loved them. I noticed ever iguana owner has told me theirs liked different items. Someone said theirs liked strawberries. Mine doesn't. I gave him rose leaves & same response. He eats them sorta. But he loved the rose flower! Mantrid's very favorite foods seems to be watercress & bananas as a treat.

kutterbest I love love this baby!! My son and I had one years ago named "Iggy". He has his own little sunroom and the trimmings like you state. 🤗😉 one day we noticed Iggy hadn't moved much and wouldn't eat..,took to the vet/friend- check out, Xrays showed he had broken his back?!?! - and was partially paralyzed and likely paralysis would continue all over.😢😥😒🙁☹️😰😢 he died within the week... Was the saddest thing ever!!!

They kept coming by the pool and were eating the fruit out of the frozen drinks! 😂 One of them had a real thing for pineapple! Lol It was like feeding the birds.

zev4u_lexx_luvr @mamamoonchild Mantrid is much more difficult to cuddle without getting all scratched up by his rough skin. Sorta is like holding a thorn bush! 🌹✨ I cuddled chickens & would sing them to sleep when I was a kid. 🎤🐔

zev4u_lexx_luvr @mamamoonchild Yes, birds are pretty kool. I had a very friendly pet chicken that was chocolate brown w/tiny white & black speckles...called her Snowflake. She was one of those multi-color egg layers. I really need to post pics of those fun days.

mamamoonchild I have one named charmander, she lays blue eggs and has grey legs. Super beautiful but a rescue chicken so she won't let me hold her.

mamamoonchild Yeah, little babies are so sweet! We have raised two groups of little chicks. We were having a possum problem for a bit so we lost quite a few with that ordeal. And one that survived the possum was severely attacked by another chicken, has never recovered and is pretty aggressive which makes hanging out with them not as fun.

zev4u_lexx_luvr @mamamoonchild I know something about that stuff too. Chickens are so territorial. They say dinosaurs were similar to birds. They must have been fast & frightening! We had a few huge Rhode Island Red or New Hampshire roosters that were pretty scary! I have had to kick them away from me when they attacked!

mamamoonchild It's pretty funny how scary something so small can be :) I once had a Rhode Island Red too, she stopped laying and I was happy to give her to someone for dinner. I was vegetarian for 13 years and really adore animals but I was so glad the day little red was gone.

zev4u_lexx_luvr @mamamoonchild Geese are pretty nasty too. We had a nasty mascovie duck that used to come running from a far to try to pinch me black & blue & scratch me up w/his wings! I would grab him & walk him over to this scooped out ledge & throw him into a gaggle of geese & they would attack him back! Then he would huff back to me to try again!

mamamoonchild That little red was also a rescue chicken, who knows what tragedies and trauma she suffered to make her so mean, mostly to the other chickens not as bad with me.

zev4u_lexx_luvr @mamamoonchild Yes, geese are big but I was attacked by a huge black swan that was at pond & THAT was a bit scary! Also we had some mean bulls that I would run from & jump up on a high rock where all he could do was run his head up across it! LOL

Mantrid does not bite but had only once when he was new to me & afraid..he was hiding under a dining room table & I picked him up & he bite me on the fleshy part of my thumb. He is more apt to whip with his tail as defense. Iguanas can bite terribly but my greenman has been pretty good. This past week his claw happened to cling onto my edge of my ear & nearly pierced it again! Stings! Can you say disinfectant & Neosporin?

zev4u_lexx_luvr @godking1488 I heard some that were cuddled when young like it but mine is more like grumpy cat. He likes to look outside & stare at himself in mirrors more than be picked up. I pick him up here & there but he has to be walked over to a window for something to occupy him or he tries to climb to me & go elsewhere...

zev4u_lexx_luvr @godking1488 .... I am his 3rd owner. I bought/adopted him when he was 3-ish. I was informed he was a frat house lizard. He used to fit in a large aquarium but hated it so I let him have his own room with a perch & he is happier. No more nose rubbing & pacing! Sometimes U kick the dogs outside & I let the greenman sit on the back of the sofa & look out the windows.

zev4u_lexx_luvr @latasha1986 LOL He is a very good lie maintenance pet. He does have a few things that sets him off into being scared. But he is much better now. He used to really fear glasses & hats & whip his tail in defense! LOL Today I climbed up with my bright red reader glasses in & he acted normally with his head bobbing hello greeting.

krystalnjoe The total length of mine , I've had him for close to 10 years now and he's maybe 10" with his legs and head stretched all the way out, his shell is MAYBE 6 inches, he's I think about 13-14 years old you can count the rings on the shell and get close to the age, mine has always been human owned I believe, someone didn't want him anymore and I've had him since

zev4u_lexx_luvr @blissfulfinds79 That is sweet! Mantrid has only crawled across me...or sat on me in someway. 🦎 LOL He doesn’t sleep on me. I have had him since 2006 but I am his 3rd (& last) owner. If I had him as a baby he probably would be more affectionate.

I get all my info from them, and I add vitamins to his food and sometimes his water. I bought watercress today to try it😁
