Extremely rare Mid Century Rosewood Box by Danish designer Hans Gustav Ehrenreich. Commissioner in the 1960s by Hobsons of Copenhagen, and produced in Ehrenreich’s own workshop. (Only one other recent sale - pictured).
This sleek, covered box (jewelry storage /cigarette case) is made from solid rosewood, and features a flush lid and integrated handle. Ideal for storing your watch, jewelry, cigarettes, cigars, playing cards or other personal items. Adds elegance and style to your desk, vanity, dresser or bedside table.
The clean-lined design is simple: it’s the rich color, patina and grain of the rosewood that’s the star here. Shown in different lighting: its highlights range from deep red to warm orange to mahogany brown. An ideal gift for a lover of Scandinavian Design: male or female.
On the underside, it is imprinted Hobson of Copenhagen as well as Ehrenreich Denmark, although this mark has worn down over time (see last photo).
SIZE: 5 1/2” long 4 1/2” wide by 1 3/8” high.
CONDITION: Overall excellent condition with some signs of age and use, such as finish wear and or small marks. I have highlighted the most significant, though still minor issues in photo # 8: a tiny ding on one corner and a crack on the underside, which does not compromise its stability.
