Unique tripod glazed soup tureen by famed mid-century Norwegian ceramist Rolf Hansen. Abstract hand painted design with raw underside. Stamped with the Kongsberg Keramikk sign. Very good condition with no cracks, chips, or repairs of note. Some very slight crazing in some areas and glaze has a slight film.
About the artist:
Rolf Hansen (1922- 2004) was a mid-century Norwegian ceramist. From 1947 he attended Kongsberg Keramikk until his death in 2004. The source of inspiration for Rolf Hansen was Pablo Picasso. In 1949 he was in Vallauris in France and became acquainted with Picasso's vintage pottery. In the early 1950's and beyond Rolf Hansen began making dishes and jars with abstract decor in his spirit, becoming one of Norways most popular mid-century ceramists.
