MCM Chinese Export Plished Carnelian Beads with Carved Jade Pendant

This beautiful mid-century modern Chinese natural carved stone with natural beads necklace is 'just the thing' to wear out to a lovely Chinese dinner! Hand wrought metal that was finely detailed, filigree work all around the sides of the pendant with a very ornate back, was made of vermeil, or gold wash over silver metal. Stamped 925 in a tiny imprint on the reverse of the detailed 's' hook for closure. The jewel was well cared for all these years with just some wear consistent with age and minimal, pre-loved use; a bit of wear to the gold on the back of the pendant and aging of the hand tied silk cord. The stones are semi-translucent, and nicely polished, featuring natural inclusions and one at the very top showing a natural little crystal spot. The design of the carved jade stone is one of nature, an oval floral form. The stones have 'good fortune' qualities according to Chinese customs but I like the sheer beauty of the craftsmanship and the quality of the materials used. I bought it specially to wear out to an evening of Chinese dinner, but never had a chance to wear it, so it has just sat in the box.
