@mochadoodlemama hi sorry for the late response! i typically wear a size medium, and despite the shorts being a small, they feel like a medium. the first “layer” are a bit like spandex or “booty shorts” and do cling to your body, but nothing too tight. I think it’s also safe to say that I don’t have a butt so it’s not a problem there. I do have thick thighs and they don’t cause a problem for me there either. I hope this helps!
