Overview: Oversized pop/folk art tapestry wall hanging. Hand woven in the 1980s by a master weaver. This piece combines the ancient art of hand weaving with modern graphics of the pop art movement. Created with bold and vibrant colors reminiscent of Andy Warhol's works. The artist was able to capture a captivating intensity in the subjects expression and paired it with a delicate softness of youth and flowers. It's supported by a wooden rod attached to the tapestry with hook and loop fastener. It was woven by hand on a large floor loom. A work this size takes several months to complete. History: In 1987 this piece was part of the Collins Gallery (Cape Cod, MA) Touring Exhibition curated by Tessa Jackson, a british art curator, author, and cultural advisor.
