Los Castillo Articulated Sterling Silver Aztec Mask Brooch Mid Century Taxco

A vintage Los Castillo sterling silver pre Colombian/ Aztec head motif brooch. This is a piece with a difference! It appears to have been fully hand formed with delicate silver wire detailing and an articulated nose ring. The face appears to have been hand cut, hammered and formed. I think this Taxco eagle essay mark dates from the period from 1955-1970. This has light wear and extremely light scratching all over, it has a pleasant tarnished patina. The pin back must be a replacement and the metal on the brooch where it meets the ends of the pin is bent slightly inward. The delicate silver wire head dress and tassels are extremely slightly bent as is one of the ears. The back has #857 engraved on it and I would think that this was a collection reference from a former owner. This is a larger piece that is deeply constructed. It measures approximately 1.6" tall x 1.6" x 0.5" excluding the nose ring.
