what is causing the white spots? can it be cleaned or conditioned ?

@nicolerez the white marks are light surface scratches where the leather finish has come off with normal wear. The leather is not damaged below the surface staining. Some black leather staining or polish would easily fix these. ( I only have dark grey at the moment or else I would attempt it now) And more consistent conditioning should help these markings from reappearing. Hope that answered you question.
