Lion's Head Pendant Antique Brass

Old piece that I had stashed away in my craft bin, & it appears to be something that used to be a portion of another design. It could have been a door knocker pendant and it's missing the ring in its mouth, I've tried looking it up and I can't find anything that looks like it. Numerical markings inside the back, but I'm unable to match it up with the maker or content. I can sell this without a chain, or if you need one, please request that. I've used a prop chain that I happened to have close by (for the photo) I'm sure I have a costume jewelry chain I can put on it until you get something that's of your own taste. I've been playing around with placing crystals in the eyes, and I think I'm going to go with the small Amber Swarovski crystals, shown in the photo.
