Leaves I Monoprint

Leaves I Monoprint, 1 in a Series of 2. Signed by the artist (me!). A riff on traditional Japanese Gyotaku printing, leaves of ash, juniper & mulhy grass are printed in black against a soothing background of cool, pale shades of slate/powder blue and avocado/grass stain green (the exact color of the stains on your pants when you were a kid). This print was made using a roughly carved/textured wood block overlaid with found leaves from the edge of the desert, then hand inked and rolled thru an etching press on heavy (140 lb.) watercolor paper and finally, strategically hand-rubbed. This process produces an embossed surface with good relief and color texture. Print comes with bevel-cut black matte and white backer board in a clear plastic protective sleeve. Image is 6.5" x 4.5"; matte is 8" x 10".
