Late 1930’s Silk Brocade Dressing Gown

Pure Gorgeousness from a bygone Era… Masterfully made 1930’s Chinese Brocade House Robe/Dressing Gown with Silk Lining. Two of the exquisite details that echo this decade are the puffed, pleated sleeves and a nipped, empire waist silhouette. Such an unusual amount of detailing and workmanship went into this creation: the long darts at the back of the neck, the rolled neckline band, the looped trim… and those elaborate frog closures! The long, open front says it was not worn out of the home at the time. I absolutely adore this piece, but it has just been sitting in my closet unworn for years. Someone out there will surely appreciate her history and relish glamorously lounging in this rare and beautiful piece. You can definitely style it to be worn outside… I’m thinking black velvet leggings underneath with ballet flats… There are a couple of interior stains which I never dared to treat myself. You can leave them as is since they’re unseen when worn or bring to a dry cleaner well versed in vintage items. I will post additional photos in the daylight.
