The Last Lion by William Manchester, Winston. Spencer Churchill, Vision of Glory. 1874-1932 Published by Little Brown and company in 1983. First edition. This is volume one of William Manchester's fantastic 3 volume biography of one of the 20th century's most famous historic figures. Winston Churchill, the British Prime Minister during World War 2 and one of the heroes of the war. In this book, Manchester looks at the early years of Churchill's life from his birth to his first posting overseas with the army in South Africa. His time as first sea lord during the First World War and the beginning of of the build up to the 2nd World War. The book is in very good condition. The spine is tight and the cover is clean with very minimal scuffing. The pages are clean and sharp. The unclipped dust jacket has very minor chipping and is in very good condition. See photos. This is a very interesting book of history and would be an excellent addition to anyone's book collection The book is about 6 1/2 inches by 9 1/2 inches by 2 and 1/8 inch. 973 pages and about. 3 to 4 pounds. Hardcover volume bound in Navy Blue cloth with inspired lion on cover and guilt lettering on spine. Book block is clean with no markings or writing well-bound. Some slight fading and wear to the cloth cover. No torn or bent pages. Very good vintage condition. A very nice copy and a very good jacket. Non-smoking pet-free home.
