This large, blue sterling pendant is quite a stunner! It is set with an oval, large blue larimar stone that has an incredible, unique matrix to it. The natural shades of blue, white and cream are stunning. It is set into a sterling bezel and framed with a dotted sterling accent. The bail is a nice size to slip any chain through. Much more beautiful in real life! ************* History: The Larimar stone, which is also known as the dolphin stone and atlantis stone is only found on the island of Hispaniola, in the Caribbean Sea. Larimar was discovered in 1916 by a Spanish priest but no mining was done. In 1974 the American Peace Corps Volunteers rediscovered the stone on the beaches of Barahona. Geologists determined that larimar is a rare form of blue pectolite. The quantity at the mine is unknown, which makes the future supply uncertain.
