Large Diamond Abstract

Creating Large Diamond Abstract was an exhilarating experience. Its design relies on shape, texture and color. The elongated pentagons and small inner triangles create a shape that’s reminiscent of an old European cut. Specifically, I had the diamond in my great grandmother’s ring in mind while designing and painting Large Diamond Abstract. In fact, I almost named the painting “Grandma’s Ring” or “Grandma’s Diamond.” Along with shape, the painting utilizes impasto to enhance the overall design and give clues to the viewer as to how the diamond has come to life in front of their eyes. Large Diamond Abstract is a matter of fact painting and was, thus, given a name that reflected that feeling. The artistic details will hold your gaze and after you’ve walked away, the overall design will return you to the details anew. Acrylic on a 24x24in pure cotton canvas.
