What is Labradorite? ❤️ Labradorite is a member of the feldspar mineral family. The very first known references of Labradorite are found in the legends of native people from Northern America. People of the Inuit tribe called Labradorite the “firestone” or “fire rock”. They believed that Labradorite was an intermedium between the Earth and other realms. The Boethuk people in Labrador and Newfoundland had another theory. They believed that Labradorite stone contains elements of the Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis. This is how they explained its mesmerizing shifts in color. Beliefs of the native people formed the basis of Labradorite's meaning later on. Labradorite was "rediscovered" by the Europeans in 1770. When Moravian missionaries first landed on the Isle of Paul in Labrador, Canada they found this magic stone. They took Labradorite back to England and France.
