L.E. Smith cobalt starburst textured glass ashtray MCM

This striking mid-century L.E. Smith Glass Co. ashtray features rich cobalt blue pressed glass with a bold starburst textured exterior and smooth, glossy interior. The blue is amazing-almost a teal at times. The elongated eye or leaf-shaped form has two subtle rim indents that serve as cigarette or cigar rests, a signature design from Smith’s Starburst / No. 4306 line produced in the 1960s–early 1970s. Each piece was made in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania, using heavy molded glass with vivid color depth typical of Smith’s Contemporary Textured Glass series. This style also appeared in department-store gift collections. Circa 1965. approx. 8” L × 5½” W × 3" H Excellent vintage; no cracks or chips, only light surface wear consistent with age.
