This is the beautiful Kwanzaa plate from the Holiday Traditions of the World collection produced by Tabletops Unlimited exclusively for Domestications. Designed by Gretchen Gaede, 1998. The back reads: "Kwanzaa is a harvest observance rooted in West African traditions. Dr. Maulana Karenga started it in 1966 as a non-religious holiday to honor ancestors and celebrate the past, present, and future of African American families. Celebrated for 7 days, from December 26th through January 1st, Kwanzaa is based on seven principles called Nguzo Saba. The principles are unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity and faith.
