This teacup dates to the 1930s or earlier. Made in the little village of Kutani, Japan, the markings indicate the piece was made in Kutani, and it’s signed on the bottom by the maker and/or artist.
The matching lid has a scene with three men in a courtyard having tea. On the cup, there’s a matching scene, plus a different scene featuring a beautiful rooster and a hen surrounded by gardens. This lid, without question, matches this cup.
Colorful and hand painted, enameled, & lots of gold paint, typical of Kutani.
This porcelain piece should be hand-washed with only mild detergent. Original condition. No chips, cracks or other inspections. Smoke-free and pet-free home.
