Aquired from the estate of Albuquerque's first Roto-Rooter franchisee, this never used Kohler branded plastic rotary telephone dial ring is personalized with Plumbers Specialty Co. 2840 Girard Blvd. N.E. Albuquerque, New Mexico; that company being long defunct. The franchisee ended his relationship with Roto-Rooter before 1960 per other office materials. Includes outer gift envelope in which the item was found, so there is little yellowing.
How we dated:
• The dial ring is alpha-numeric (AFT. 1930).
• Kohler blue stylized "KK" and "Kohler of Kohler" word mark on promotional items (BEF. 1980).
• 10-digit numbers in metro cities. (AFT. 1951).
• Absence of required 2-letter state and zip codes. (BEF. 1963).
• It's generally believed that dial rings were obsolete in Albuquerque when complete adoption of touch-tone service became available. (AFT. 1968).
Based on our knowledge of the estate and the historical evidence, we date this item to be between 65 and 75 years old (c. 1951-1960).
