In Jewish tradition, a Kiddush cup is used during Shabbat and holiday meals to hold wine or grape juice for the blessing that sanctifies the day.
This one is by Elv Andersen, a Danish Silversmith, active in the mid 20th century. It is stamped 925s, for sterling silver, made of 92.5 % pure silver.
Measures 2 5/8 inches high, has a 2 1/8 inch base diameter, and a 2 3/4 inch top diameter. The weight by itself with no packaging is
3.7 ounces.
Due to age there is tarnish. Have not cleaned to any extent as do not want to harm integrity of the piece.
According to research these had some gilding on them also. Can see where much of that has worn.
This is still a very nice cup, suitable for a collection.
From a smoke free home. Thank you for looking !
