Characteristic of Kazuko Oshima’s lavish designs, these semiprecious stones are wrapped in webs of gold wire that make pieces of green Tibetan turquoise appear improbably light. Floating above the body, this piece enriches the wrist with a quality of delicacy and glamor. This bracelet features three large pieces of natural green Tibetan turquoise, polished on their outer faces. Ms. Oshima believed passionately that the materials that she worked with possessed great healing powers. Diameter of the bracelet is 2 ¾ inches, and the three pieces of semiprecious stones are up to 2 inches in width. The total weight of this item, largely determined by the weight of the stones, is 158g.
Tibetan Turquoise is believed to have a range of healing and protective properties. It is said to enhance communication, promote spiritual attunement, and balance the body’s energy centers. The stone is also believed to have protective qualities, shielding against negative energies and promoting a sense of calm and tranquility.
Designed exclusively for Barney NY, this rare and one of a kind piece is combined with the delicacy of wire and solidity of the stones. Her work was popular with celebrities such as Bianca Janger and collected internationally. This rare Kazuko bracelet was in the collection the influential NY art dealer Holly Solomon, a friend and early supporter of Kazuko and her exquisite works.
