John Davis Pottery Ceramic Vase 12" Sculpted Inlaid Floral Bouquet With Birds  Measures approximately 12" high, 6" wide (see last photo for measurement diagram). 2005 original vase created and signed by John Davis. One of a kind.  Excellent preowned condition. No chips, cracks or repairs.  Simply beautiful. Please see photos for exact details. “Slabs of clay are pressed into plaster molds made from real flowers and leaves and pieced together with various twists and textures to form the vase. John occasionally sculpts birds and adds them before leaving the vase to dry for a couple of days. The vase is then painted with colored clays and fired in a kiln. After the first firing the vase is washed with a dark stain to give it depth and an aged look. Finally subtle details are applied by hand and an airbrush before the vase is signed dated and fired yet again”.
