The plates are named with gem colors of the butterflies painted on them, such as Amethyst, Sapphire etc. From the First edition through Eighth edition, it is a complete series called “Jewels of the Flowers” technique where painting on silk in the original artwork inspired these porcelain fired plates. Artist signed and numbered on each. Wet painting lets the shapes and colors appear fluid and spontaneous while precise, setting a tranquil mood. Back stamped, numbered in a limited 150 days firing a standard of excellence by Edwin M. Knowles since 1834. Made in the USA offered through the Bradford Exchange. Has dimensional raised precise lines of pigments. This is the first collection produced after Edwin Knowles reopened production.
