One of his most famous designs was the sheer, rhinestone-studded gown worn by Marilyn Monroe when she sang “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” to John F. Kennedy in 1962. He was also known for dressing stars like Rita Hayworth, Marlene Dietrich, and Lana Turner. Jean Louis worked as the chief designer for Columbia Pictures before starting his own fashion house.
His designs were characterized by their timeless elegance, sleek silhouettes, and attention to luxurious details. He won an Academy Award for Best Costume Design and received multiple nominations for his work in film. Jean Louis continued designing for private clients until his retirement. He passed away in 1997, leaving a lasting legacy in the fashion and film industries.
