Japanese Yakishime Stoneware Bowl – Shūrei – Kishū (Wakayama) Studio Pottery
Plus 2 small lidded McCoy Pottery Heintz mini crock dipping bowls in brown glaze. The bowls are typically used as condiment or dipping bowls.
Authentic Japanese studio pottery bowl signed by the potter Shūrei (秀嶺) and marked Kishū (紀州), the historic name for present-day Wakayama Prefecture, Japan.
This piece was made using the yakishime technique — a traditional high-temperature firing process that leaves the clay unglazed, allowing natural ash and flame effects to create a rich, earthy surface.
Hand-thrown with subtle firing variation, this bowl embodies wabi-sabi aesthetics and the post-war Japanese folk craft tradition.
