James Avery Retired Drill Team Boot Dangle Ring 1990s, 925, Size 5, Rare Find
Retired 1990s Drill Team Boot Dangle Ring
Size: 5
Material: 925 Sterling Silver
Charm measures: 3/8" long
Band measuring: 2.3 mm wide
Condition: Pristine condition for being over 30 years old.
I wore this cute ring in junior high.
⭐️The authenticity is etched on the inside of the band with AVERY and STER (please see photos)
⭐️The inside of the ring is stamped:
© AVERY → This is James Avery’s maker’s mark.
STER → Indicates sterling silver (this is the pre-2004 style; after that they started using “925”).
⭐️This stamp style is authentic for James Avery pieces from the 1980s and 1990s.
⭐️So yes — the Drill Team dangle ring is a genuine vintage James Avery sterling silver piece from around the 1990s (possibly late 1980s–early 1990s).
⭐️This ring is from the 1990s. Per James Avery, the charms were not being stamped yet, only on the ring bands.
⭐️This ring is 100% authentic because I got it from James Avery in Houston in 1991.
This ring is beautiful and would be a great collector's item or for a drill team dancer.

Hi there, this dangle ring is from the early 90s, and per James Avery, their hallmark stamp was only on the band. I picked this out from the James Avery store over 30 years ago, along with the larger matching Drill Team Boot Charm for a necklace that is stamped.

the hallmark wouldn’t usually be on the boot itself—it’s far too small and rounded.
Inside the ring band (shank): Most dangle rings from the late 80s–early 90s were stamped on the inside of the band with “AVERY” + “STER” (sometimes very tiny and faint).
Charm loop/jump ring: Occasionally, they tucked a “JA” or “STER” mark on the loop that attaches the boot to the ring, but this was less consistent.
Boot itself: Rarely hallmarked, and usually only on the side near the heel if at all.
