It's a shame that the story of these unique handbags has gone away along with the brand. Juxtaposie bags themselves were crafted in India, but the beaded handles are the real treasure. The one-of-a-kind beaded straps were handmade by Ugandan refugees forced to leave their homes due to civil war. The proceeds from the sale of Juxtaposie bags went to help women refugees who might otherwise have ended up being trafficked or killed. (These bags were a little pricey when new, but well worth the price because of the mission behind them.)
Each bag came with a fabric strap to match the purse, along with the special beaded handle made by a woman in Uganda. (This one was made by "Jessica.") The civil war in Uganda ended in 1994, and that is possibly why the bags are no longer made. The website has gone away as well, which is a shame because the two women who founded Juxtaposie really made a difference!
This bag, called the "Susan," is in excellent preloved condition and comes with both straps and the original tag, as well as a coordinating wallet. Both are in like-new condition. The color is called "Chocolate Fondue." Pink piping and accent around the snap closure. Pink sateen lining with the Juxtaposie logo.
