Jose Carreras was born in Barcelona, Spain in 1946 and showed an early talent for singing. He performed on the radio at age 8 and made his opera stage debut at 12 years old. As his voice matured, he took on larger and more important roles and soon became one of the most sought-after tenors in the world.
In 1987, he was diagnosed with leukemia and given a 1 in 10 of surviving. Fortunately, he beat the cancer and started on the road to making a comeback. Beginning in 1990, he teamed up with Luciano Pavarotti and Placido Domingo for the first “Three Tenors” concert which was televised and seen by 800 million people worldwide. They continued to perform together until 2003 and, since then, José has concentrated more on recording and concerts than performing in operas.
Jose signed this colorful photo in gold paint pen. It has been trimmed to approximately 7 by 9.5 inches and is in excellent condition.
