Japanese Hagoita silk, wood and paper decorative Geisha Paddle Doll Hagoita are rectangular wooden paddles from Japan that date back to the 17th century. They were originally used to play “Hanetsuki” (a game that involves players hitting badminton shuttlecocks made of soapberry seeds and bird feathers using large wooden paddles called “Hagoita”. The Hagoita is a gift traditionally given to Japanese baby girls. Very good vintage condition.
