James Dean (1931-1955) got his start in Hollywood like most other actors starring in commercials and with bit parts in films. Larger roles in television followed then his big break came in 1955 with a starring part in “East of Eden” with Julie Harris and Raymond Massey. His new-found celebrity was short lived when he died at age 24 in a car accident on September 30, 1955. Dean had finished filming two other films before his death, “Rebel Without a Cause” and “Giant”. They were released posthumously and turned the young actor into a legend. This 4x6 glossy color photo is not vintage but a nice shirtless shot of the brooding actor. It had been affixed to a decorative piece of cardstock with an art deco look to it. The photo is in excellent condition.
