ginalindemann @almostcanada Hi there. In my opinion, no they aren’t too big for someone who wears an 8.5. I wear an 8.5 to a 9 and I have a wide foot. I just went and tried them on with socks (they were a regular Nike crew sock) and was able to comfortably put them on and take them off. And they fit just right with the socks on, no bunching up of the socks or anything. I also walked around my house with them on and they felt like secure on my foot, not flopping around .
