J. Crew silk chiffon Sophia dress (black)

This classic, seasonless cocktail dress is your go-to for weddings, office parties, gallery openings, or whatever other special event life brings your way. This J. Crew dress -- one of the "Sophia" line -- has two layers: a polyester lining and a silk chiffon overlay. The fabric is a muted black. The dress features a V in both the front and back. It secures with a side zip and hook-and-eye closure. I'm not sure this dress has a true empire waist, but it gives those vibes, with a wide horizontal band that hits at about the bra line. So if, like me, you are sensitive about your tummy, you might find this dress forgiving. Another nice feature: Unlike some formal dresses, this one folds up compactly and weighs almost nothing, which may be useful for travel. However, it will likely need steaming when you arrive at your destination. IMPORTANT: I am not 100% sure that this is a Size 6, because years ago I cut out the tags showing the size, fabric, and care instructions. For this reason, if you would like additional measurements, please let me know. As for care, I recommend dry cleaning. The last few pictures show measurements.
