This was purchased in Iowa. The bottom is marked IRONFOOT POTTERY AY. Online research seems to indicate Ironfoot Pottery was once a pottery located near Kalona, Iowa on Amish land. I do not know if the piece is Amish. I also do not know if it has an intended purpose. It seems to fit an egg well so it could be a deviled egg dish but given the heavy construction of the piece, I just don't feel like that's what it would have been used for. It might fit smoking pipes. There did seem to be some wax residue on it so perhaps it held votive candles.
Measures approximately 9" across and 3.75" in height. Weighs approximately 2 pounds 8 ounces.
There is a crack in one of the segmented sections.
