This amazing three-part handled relish dish is a beautiful example of mid century California pottery. It’s from the Winfield Pasadena studio, founded in 1929 by British artisan, Lesley Winfield Sample, who emigrated to SoCal in the 1920s and was the driving force behind this studio into the 1960s.
This leaf shaped pattern - #334 - was produced in a variety of colors and hand painted designs. This is an example of Lesley Sample’s classic sage green glaze with a brown drip glaze along the edges, likely circa 1940-1950. It’s signed Winfield Pasadena on the underside.
It is in beautiful condition for age, with minimal crazing, no chips or fleabites, and just a small area of oxidation as shown. It measures 16” long, 9” at the widest point and 4” high at the handle. A classic example of SoCal pottery - perfect for any collector of MCM art glass and retro serve ware.
