IRISH LACE WEDDING HANKIE, SAKS FIFTH AVE., IRISH LINEN 1965, DESCO

This beautiful vintage wedding handkerchief was for my (first) wedding in 1965 (I was 18). It is a 12" square. My mom was in NYC and bought it for me at Saks. It is Irish cotton lace and Irish linen made by Desco in Northern Ireland, well known for many, many years. It has very fine linen, which looks coarser in the enlarged pics, and the lace is delicate and beautiful. The hankie has been in the Saks envelope, which has been in my underwear drawer since 1965, and still has the original sticker tag. It is in excellent vintage condition with just a slight yellowing from age which I am sure would come out if washed. A fabulous gift for a bride to cherish for another 59 years. A gift from Saks Fifth Avenue would be a great way to say, “Love and Congratulations”!
