IMPRESSIVE 1940s' BLACK FELT HAT + TOPSTITCHED BRIM & SATIN BANDS & BOW

This is a gorgeous black felt hat from the fabulous 1940s'! The conical crown is surrounded by a brim which has detailed topstitching. The brim is turned up at the front and one side, and downturned at the other side. There is a wide satin band around the crown which ends in a large bow at the back. There is an elastic band attached to the inside of the hat to keep it in place. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials.
