IMPOSING 1930's BLACK VELOUR TILT HAT COVERED IN RED/BLACK FEATHERS + VEIL

This its a fabulous 1930s' tilt hat made of black velvety fabric. The crown is short and flat at the top, and is surrounded by a medium width brim in a round shape, but the back is square. The top of the crown and also the brim have red and black feathers attached. A small feather "butterfly and green stem are attached at one side. A veil is included, but it does not extend down to cover the face. There is a black fabric covered elastic band attached to the inside of the hat to help keep it in a tilted position. Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, an extended cap, or a combination of these. 30s Fashion certainly seemed fussier than the 1920s with its relentless ornaments of bows, trims and frills.
