″‘Mi abuelita said I mustn’t be afraid of skeletons I carry my own around inside,’ said Fidelito. ‘She told me to feel my ribs and make friends with them.‘”
Wear a necklace that tells an entire story, with my handmade literature necklaces! This one depicts Nancy Farmer's amazing YA Sci-Fi novel, House of the Scorpion.
This unisex necklace features (from left to right), first, a palm tree oasis charm, for the oasis that Matt discovers while escaping across the border, which represents hope. Next is a scorpion charm, since scorpions are the emblem of the Alacrán family and symbolize El Patrón’s cruelty and his connection with his clone, Matt. In the center is a book cover pendant. To the right is a medallion charm of the Virgin of Guadalupe, for the Virgin of Guadalupe statue by Matt's bed, which serves as a symbol of Matt's inherent morality and goodness. Last is a charm of poppy flowers, since poppies represent the pervasive prejudice and oppression in the dystopian world of Opium. This necklace has been newly handmade just for you, and is adjustable from 18.5 to 26.5 inches (can be altered upon request).
